DENJ, an ensemble specializing in oriental fusion jazz with Persian influences, will perform alongside Iranian artist Niyosha during this series of concerts. The evening will begin with a duo performance by Soroush Kamalian and Sepas Sadrenoori, showcasing improvisations from their project Unlighted. DENJ’s lineup features Soroush Kamalian, a versatile musician on Kamancheh and Tombak, and Sepas Sadrenoori, a pianist and composer. The ensemble is completed by Yael Thieurmel on bass and YunPeng Zou on drums.

Youn & Sepas is a young saxophone and piano duo that combines the warmth of oriental colors with the excitement brought by jazz and its improvisations. They invite you to explore their universe through their rich compositions.

A series of improvisations combined with world music, imrovised music, and minimal music. Sorush Kamalian and Sepas Sadrenoori are both Iranian artists based in France since 2018. Unlighted is at musical confluences where these two musicians create a new musical universe.

For over a month, the face of a young Iranian woman has become a symbol of the fight for freedom. Women and men, united across the world, are protesting, singing for freedom, and condemning the ongoing oppressions in Iran. Sepas Sadrenoori and Soroush Kamalian, two Iranian musicians based in France, have chosen to amplify the voices of their fellow countrymen through their instruments.

The first part of the project is dedicated to the memories of Sadia and Zahra, each with an extraordinary journey that brought them from their homeland to France. These narratives serve to preserve past experiences while highlighting their significance in the present. By transposing a memory into reality, it is monumentalized. This exhibition, created by Alma Oskouei, is accompanied by music composed by Sepas Sadrenoori and Media Hashemi.

To close the festival, the associations Garromédia and Vitré: Images d’Iran, Cultures Persanes, present a concert by Iranian-French-based pianist Sepas Sadrenoori.

Arriving in France in 2018 to pursue his studies and explore new horizons, he quickly developed a deep connection to French culture. It is through blending colors and musical experimentation that he thrives, constantly creating greater depth and subtlety the moment his fingers touch the piano keys.

Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" is an elegy for all the women of distant times who have been forgotten, leaving behind only faint photographs as traces of their existence. Yet, surely, there must be other signs they must exist. How could one be a woman and not leave a mark on the world? 

Alma Oskouei’s visual art pieces, showcased during the exhibition, were accompanied by the music of Sepas Sadrenoori in a performance, they sought to retrace and narrate this forgotten chapter of Iran’s history.
